Inez Beverly Prosser Inez Beverly Prosser (1895–1934) was an American psychologist and the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. She obtained her doctorate from the University of Cincinnati in 1933. Her research focused on the impact of racial segregation on Black children’s education and mental health.
